Plekia, 1143. Between Iconium and Constantinople, young Theia shares her daily life with her albino donkey Pegasus and her mischievous dog. But life is never as one would like it to be; while the Turcomans, led by Ataman, intrude on her village, and the illustrious Andronicus Komnenos becomes a captive, Theia finds herself propelled into the heart of a whirlwind of intrigues, revelations and cultural confrontations.

Armed with a biting wit and sharp sarcasm, Theia deconstructs rumors and appearances, navigating between the expectations of her father Basil and the complexity of the Byzantine and Seljuk powers. From Constantinople, a city of automatons and symbols, to the prophecies of Erlik and the kams, she rejects preordained destinies and explores the porous boundaries between good and evil, wisdom and madness. Rarely has fiction taken hold of the history of the

Eastern Roman Empire with such force. Set at a time when various faiths came into contact and influenced one another, this magnificent and little-known chapter of our civilisation comes vividly to life.
